The Alabama Department of Human Resources (DHR) is working with the Alabama State Department of Education (ALSDE) to make P-EBT cards available to qualifying families, as the program has been extended and modified under CARES 2.
Children who attended a school participating in the National School Lunch Program (NSLP) and received free or reduced meals for breakfast or lunch — and subsequently missed these meals due to school closures, may be eligible for P-EBT. If a parent or guardian’s income reduced due to COVID-19, their child may now be eligible for this program. They should complete a Free and Reduced-Price Meal Lunch Form and return to you by March 31, 2021.
P-EBT cards will be mailed directly to qualifying students’ homes beginning in May 2021. Please connect with your school, if needed, to update all contact information to avoid delays in receipt of the P-EBT cards.
