Selma City Schools Weekly COVID-19 Update

September 13, 2021

Dear Team Selma Families,

The safety of our scholars, teachers and staff is our first priority.  Therefore, each week I review COVID-19 data as presented to me by our lead nurse through the reporting portal found HERE. Data is collected daily. In the week ending September 17, out of nearly 2,700 students, we had 4 reported positive cases resulting in less than .5% margin. Our 350 staff across the district reported 3 positive cases for the week totaling less than .5%.

Based on these results we will continue in-person instruction across the district at all of our schools. Please continue to encourage our scholars to practice good hygiene to reduce the risk of the virus and keep them home if they are sick. If your child tests positive, please report this to the school as soon as feasible so that it will be shared with the school nurse and principal.   Please look for our self-reporting tab on our website soon.

We must all work together to provide a safe and healthy learning environment for both our scholars and staff for the continuation of traditional learning. Please remember to keep those impacted by the virus in your thoughts and prayers. Let’s keep Doing Our Part Everyday. Stay safe and be DOPE!

Kind regards,

Avis Williams, Ed.D.

Superintendent
