R.B. Hudson STEAM Academy in Selma pulled down some impressive awards recently.
Monica Russell, a seventh-grade math teacher and Math Instructional Coach at R.B. Hudson STEAM Academy, was named the Selma Schools Secondary Level Teacher of the Year. A project with 10 of Russell’s seventh and eighth grade students was selected from a nationwide pool of applicants for one of 25 Honorable Mention Awards in the 11th annual $2 million Samsung Solve for Tomorrow Contest. The program encourages sixth through 12th grade students to solve real-world issues in their community using classroom skills in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM).
