Principal's Corner

Dr. Chasity Green

Thank you for visiting the R. B. Hudson STEAM Academy webpage! I am excited that you decided to stop by our page to learn more about R. B. Hudson STEAM Academy. At R. B. Hudson STEAM academy we believe in providing a safe environment where our scholars can thrive and have access to a high-quality education every day.

I am Dr. Chasity Cole Green and became the proud principal of R. B. Hudson STEAM Academy in July of 2022. My greatest desire is that the scholars who walk the halls of R. B. Hudson know that they are cared for and will receive high-quality instruction that will allow them to compete nationally and globally.

I have been an educator for over 18 years. I began my teaching career in Selma, Alabama at my alma mater, Selma High School. I taught Physical Science, Biology, and Chemistry for two years at the Selma Early College Program before becoming a college professor, teaching Biology, Anatomy & Physiology, and Immunology for eight years in Columbia, South Carolina.

In 2015, I discovered a passion for middle schoolers and middle school curriculum and began teaching middle school science in Central Florida. In 2018, I became an Instructional Science Coach, assisting with executing 5E lesson plans, analyzing data, and facilitating weekly professional development opportunities for science teachers. In my most recent position, I served as the Instructional Coach at the School of Discovery in Selma, Alabama where I managed all tiers of instruction for core subject areas.

As I began school at the age of two, I have always loved learning! My favorite subject is science. I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Biology from Stillman College in 2002, a Master’s Degree in Biology: Genetics from Purdue University in 2004, and a Doctoral Degree in Educational Leadership: Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Phoenix in 2014. As a lifelong learner, I enjoy participating in professional development opportunities regularly.

My hobbies include reading and spending time with my family.  I am married to a chemist, Dr. Robert Green, and I have two children: Robert, II, and Emma-Grace.

Indeed, I am excited for what is to come for our R. B. Hudson Family: top-notch teaching and learning, as we move #FullSTEAMAhead!
