My name is Rita Carmichael and I am an educator. My mother (Ireather C. Marshall) has always been my biggest inspiration for learning. She instilled in me from an early age that education is essential to your success in life. I grew up in Monroeville, AL in a housing project. Demanding work has never been an issue for me. I received my Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Concordia College-Selma. I have 3 amazing sons: Andre’, Mario and Da’Kairi. I am also the proud grandmother of seven grandchildren. I have taught in the Selma City School system for 11 years. I am presently a fifth-grade teacher at Meadowview Elementary School. Go Lions! My students have helped to guide me on this journey of knowledge. I see myself in them every day. We learn from each other. Although there have been multiple challenges, we accept NO EXCUSES!
