I have been a member of Selma City Schools for 18 years. I have my Master’s Degree(Alabama State University) in Early Childhood Education & Bachelor of Science degree(Auburn University) in Early Childhood Education.
I currently serve as Reading Specialist at Cedar
Park Elementary and have taught Kindergarten and First grade during my 20-year
education career. I serve on the
following teams at Cedar Park Elementary: Parents & Partners in Education,
Reading Fair, School Fundraising, Library Advisory Committee, Honors Day, Calendar
Committee, RTI/PST, CIP, Building Leadership and Building Test Coordinator.
I was awarded a $450,000 21st Century after school grant in 2014 at my former school, Meadowview Elementary. This money provided students with academic enrichment/mediation, exposure to the arts, STEM, awareness of a healthy lifestyle through better food choices, cooking classes, twirling, Zumba, basketball, etiquette, art instruction, ceramics, Boy’s club, coding with Google and parent involvement opportunities. Students also learned off campus through educational fieldtrips around the state. As director of the 21st Century program, I performed
administrative duties daily and in the summer. I reported to state appointed advisors and always received high
evaluations. I look forward to assisting
Selma City Schools in receiving more grants to provide educational
opportunities to our students.
If I am not at work, I am
cheering on my three children as they play volleyball, basketball, track and
baseball. I enjoy teaching vacation
bible school, attending church, running/walking, reading and gardening in my
free time.
