The guidance and counseling program at Knox Elementary School is focused on preparing every student academically and emotionally for present and future challenges. Students are provided with opportunities to gain an understanding of self and others, to participate in educational and occupational exploration and to pursue career opportunities in an environment that is safe, caring, and encouraging.
The Counselor's Corner has an open door policy and you are welcome to visit the counselor's office and discuss any issues that may arise and need attention. In addition, group counseling sessions per grade level are on a fixed schedule biweekly with character building topics being discussed to promote the healthy growth and development of each child as they progress through their elementary school years. Students recieve individual guidance on a one-to-one basis and also benefit from group interactions in which they can build confidence in a larger social enviornment. Small group counseling sessions are biweekly alternating between whole group sessions for students struggling or needing a little extra attention. The students are also encouraged to participate in clubs and group organizations that promote a healthy self image and leaders in the 21st century leaders.
