Krystal Dozier is a native of Selma, Alabama. Krystal has previously worked in state and city government. She is currently an employee with the Selma City School system. Dozier matriculated through the Selma City Schools as a child. She furthered her education by obtaining her bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education from Concordia College Alabama and her master’s degree in School Library Media from the University of West Alabama.
With 11 years as an educator, she now serves as the Cedar Park Elementary School’s Library Media Specialist. Exposing students to the unknown through reading brings her joy. She takes pleasure in motivating students to read through unique events such as book tastings, flashlight Fridays and reading fairs. Book tastings give students an opportunity to “taste” several books from various genres in a restaurant setting. Flashlight Fridays allow students to read after school in the StarBooks Cafe located in the school’s library using a flashlight. Students are encouraged to take a comprehension test using Accelerated Reader. The Reading Fair is similar to a Science Fair except the highlight is a book of choice by the student.
Krystal is an active member of the Historic Tabernacle Baptist Church and the Selma Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. She volunteers with the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life planning committee.
